Visitor Services Assistant

This position requires accurate data entry, competence in handling fees, knowledge of basic garden information, and the ability to maintain a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for all garden visitors. Training will be provided.

Become a Docent

Inform visitors about the garden’s history, plants, and habitats. We offer drop-in tours as well as having docents stationed at key garden areas, such as the historic Stone Cabin or Aerial Tree Walk. Weekend availability is preferred.

Facilities Support

Work with our Facilities staff and help maintain the Garden buildings.

Garden Ranger

Circulate throughout the garden, providing information to visitors, and assisting staff with closing.

Garden Maintenance

Keep the garden looking good by helping our Horticulture Staff rake paths, care for plants, pull weeds, and maintain trails.

Available times: Thursdays & Fridays, 9 a.m. - noon.

Back 5

Help restore a vibrant ecosystem in the Garden’s “Back 5” Habitat Enhancement Area.

Available Times: Fridays, 9 a.m. - noon

Special Events

Assist with special events by serving refreshments, checking guests in, or managing a children’s craft.

Gift Shop

Welcome visitors to the garden’s gift shop, handle sales, and provide garden information.

Volunteers are essential to the well-being of the garden in myriad ways. The garden has a dedicated group of over fifty volunteers who welcome visitors to the garden, handle sales in the non-profit gift shop, care for the garden, lead tours, help with events, and more. Volunteer greeters and hosts welcome visitors, answer questions, and share the history of Leach Garden
Gift Shop volunteers welcome visitors to the shop and provide information about the Garden.
Love working with children of all ages? Consider joining our team of education volunteers.
Become a Docent tour guide and educate our visitors about the garden’s history, collection information, plants, and habitats.
Get your hands dirty under the supervision of our gardeners by raking paths, caring for plants, pulling weeds, and maintaining trails.
Garden Rangers circulate throughout the Garden to answer questions and provide directions. They assist staff with monitoring activity in the Garden, help with set up for events, and assist with closing the Garden. Weekend Rangers are particularly needed.
