What are the package options, location, and capacity?

Ceremony & Reception - Manor House & East Terrace with use of Upper Garden Covered Arbor for ceremony or cocktail hour. Furniture for 80, full capacity is available for 100 with some limitations.

Private Celebration Reception - Choice of Manor House and East Terrace with a capacity of 80 or Upper Garden Covered Arbor with a capacity of 40.

Micro-Wedding - Choice of Manor House and East Terrace with a capacity of 40 or the Upper Garden Covered Arbor for the ceremony with a capacity of 40.

Ceremony Only - Choice of East Terrace or Covered Arbor for ceremony, includes use of the Manor House. Capacity of up to 100 outdoor, and 40 indoor.

Elopement - Choice of East Terrace or Upper Garden Covered Arbor with a capacity of 25. Option to add on use of Manor House.

Community Rental - Upper Garden Covered Arbor with a capacity of 25 during open hours. Outside regular garden hours with a capacity of 80.

Business Retreat - Choice of Manor House or Upper Garden Covered Arbor with a capacity of 40.

Coming Soon - Indoor workshop space with a capacity of 15

What times of the day can the venue space be rented?

Leach Botanical Garden may be available for private event rentals from 4-10pm on Saturday and Sunday and 5-10pm Monday through Friday. Smaller Community Rental, Business Retreats, and Celebrations of Life may be scheduled during open hours with a capacity of 25. Please email rentals@leachgarden.org for more information on rental options.

What are the Rental Fees?

  • A refundable security deposit of $500 for most packages
  • Event Insurance may be required
  • Select packages are eligible to add more hours, fees vary, please check with the Event Team for options. 

Select packages are eligible for non alcoholic garden beverage service, ranging from coffee, tea, and cold beverages. Fees vary, please check with the Event Team at rentals@leachgarden.org for beverage service options.

What is included in the Rental Fee?
  • Full garden furniture inventory is included in rental fees, options vary by location. The inventory list is shared after the event is booked.
  • Parking is included in rental fees. 
  • Available lighting is included in rental fees, options vary by location.
  • Heaters and Fire Feature included in the Upper Garden Covered Arbor rentals, weather dependent.
  • Our garden Event Team will be available to assist with venue questions and logistics. Our team is onsite the day of the event to assist with vendor and guest arrival. LBG does not provide full day of coordinating services at this time. 
  • The Event Team provides all furniture set up, tear down, and movement of all garden furniture. 
  • Select rental packages include a vendor walk through and a one hour rehearsal time. 
  • Select rental packages include waived garden admission through the event date.
  • Select rental packages include a Leach Garden Membership.
  • Trash receptacles and recycling cans and liners are provided. 
  • Restroom supplies and cleaning are provided.
Is onsite parking available?

Yes, parking is included in the rental fee. The main garden lot located at 12323 SE Claybourne St. is available for guest use. The creekside lot located at 6739 SE 122nd Ave. is available for vendor, overflow, and accessible guest parking options.

How do I hold a Date?

Leach Botanical Garden requires a non-refundable 25% deposit and a signed rental agreement to hold a date. Please contact rentals@leachgarden.org for questions on available dates.

What is the rental payment schedule?
  • A non-refundable rental deposit of 25% is due upon the receipt of the signed rental agreement. 
  • The remaining balance will be due 3 months prior to the event date. 
  • A refundable $500 security deposit will be due 3 months prior to event date, and returned within a month of the event if no incident has occured. Community Rental packages do not require a refundable security deposit.
What is the Rain Plan?

The garden is open to the elements for groups over 40. A rain tent is recommended to place on order through Arden Event Collective, the only tent rental company permitted to set up on the East Terrace. The set up time is from 9am-12pm on the event day and pick up is permitted the following day from 9am-12pm with the exception of Mondays when the garden is closed.

Is Event Insurance required to rent the venue space?

Yes, Leach Botanical Garden requires Event Insurance for all event rentals at the Garden.  Insurance certificate of liability is due 30-days prior to your event. Email rentals@leachgarden.org for more information.

Does the Garden provide a Wedding Planner or Day-of Coordinator?

Leach Botanical Garden does not provide wedding planners or day of coordinators. All Ceremony and Reception rentals are required to provide a professional Day of Wedding Coordinator onsite for the set up, duration of event, and cleanup. Please inquire about preferred vendors.

Once my event is booked, can I visit anytime I want?

As an event client you and a guest can visit the garden for free up until the date of your wedding. Simply stop at the Visitor Services booth and give them your name and date of your event.

Manor House viewings need to be prearranged. Email rentals@leachgarden.org to schedule an appointment.

What are food and beverage options?
  • Leach Botanical Garden works with a list of professional, preferred caterers for onsite, full-service food and beverage options. Selection of a preferred caterer is required for Ceremony & Reception, Private Celebration, and Micro-wedding packages. 
  • Drop-off catering is permitted from an outside vendor for Business Retreats, Celebrations of Life, or for cultural cuisine options for other packages. 
  • All alcohol is required to be served through a professional OLCC certified server for all package options. 
  • Food Trucks and Carts may be permitted in Manor House driveway or Upper Garden parking lot, check with Events Team for more information. 
  • Picnic-style events are permitted for Community Rentals in the Upper Garden. 
  • Food preparation is not permitted on the premises, all food must be prepared offsite. 
  • Leach does not provide food, drink, or picnicking supplies. Some packages (Business Retreats, Celebration of Life, Ceremony Only, Elopement) may have the option to add a Garden Beverage Service ranging from coffee, tea, lemonade and water, fees vary.
What is the decoration policy?

Leach Botanical Garden does not permit glitter, balloons, bubbles, fireworks, or noisemakers as these harm wildlife. All candles must be LED indoor and outdoor, no flames allowed.

Tape, tacks, glue, pins or other adhesives are not permitted. Please check with the Event Team to determine the best options for decorating if you have questions.

The Leach Event Team will always advocate for sustainable decorating options and encourage you to use the natural beauty of the garden. Sustainable garden favors are available for bulk purchase in the garden Gift Shop, contact awinn@leachgarden.org.

What is the Music/Noise policy at the Garden?

Leach Botanical Garden has a policy of no music after 9pm. The hour from 9-10pm is for vendor and guest pack up and pack out only.
All DJ’s and small live music ensembles need to keep the sound level between 70-80 decibels per Portland Parks guidelines.

What time can I access the Garden on my Event Day?

Your access time begins at the time listed on your rental agreement. Most rental agreements also include 30 minutes to 2 hours for professional vendor set up depending on your package choice. Check with the Event Team at rentals@leachgarden.org if you have questions.

It is not advised to arrive early or have guests arrive early on your event day. Leach Botanical Garden has limited space and timeline to execute private rentals and there are limited resources to make guests comfortable before the stated start time.

There may be an option to rent additional outdoor venue space or a Community Rental before your stated event start time, which can be used for photography sessions, or a casual picnic lunch with a maximum of 25 guests.
