Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry through which the poet conveys their experience of nature via a simple written formula. Common themes of haiku focus on the seasons and the beauty of nature. This class provides an introduction to classical haiku, and will guide participants in writing their own haiku while spending time in the Garden. Come be inspired by the seasonal changes of autumn to write your own haiku!
Participants should bring their own writing materials (journal, notebook, pen or pencil). There will be plenty of time for participants to share their poems with the group if they choose to do so.
Natalie DaSilva is an Oregon Master Naturalist who enjoys nothing more than sharing her love of nature and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with others.
