Weekend Guided Walks

Beginning June 19th, meet in front of the Manor House every Saturday through November 13th for these fun and informative tours of Leach Garden. Check out what's blooming and explore different sections of the Garden with your volunteer guide. These seasonal walks are free and appropriate for all ages. Honeybee Hikes

  • Where: Meet in the Leach Botanical Garden Manor House

Our Honeybee Hikes series is an opportunity for parents and their pre-school children to hike throughout Leach's beautiful collection! Visit the pond, bee hives, and the painted dinosaur! $2 per child; nonwalkers and parents get in for free! Strollers limit where we can explore so carriers are ideal. No pre-registration required. Audubon Society of Portland at Leach Botanical Garden-Birds of Prey

Get up close and personal with birds of prey from Audubon's Wildlife Care Center. Learn about the unique adaptations that make Birds of Prey such awesome predators, like what makes a falcon so fast and an owl such a good night hunter. Discover which raptor species make the Portland area their home. You'll meet the birds up close and learn the roles birds like them have in the wild, and the role the Audubon Society of Portland plays in their survival. No registration required.

Leach Garden After Hours: Equinox Sunset Walk

In the glow of the setting sun, welcome the arrival of autumn with a special preview of fall color highlights. Spend a lovely evening touring the Garden, then return to the Manor House for music and refreshments on the East Terrace. Meet at the Manor House. Nature Photography Basics for Kids

Spend two Saturdays in September experiencing the trails at Leach Botanical Garden and creating memories you can take home. Using the beautiful setting of Leach Botanical Garden as a canvas, participants will learn the basics of nature photography composition, including form, shape, and light. The second session will include a review and critique of photos taken the previous week. Instructor Tyler Finkle has an Associate Degree in Photography and has practiced professionally and for fun for over a decade. Tyler loves photography for its ability to reveal what is beautiful and interesting in what might first appear to be mundane or even ugly. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a camera - film and digital formats are both welcome. Arrangements can be made if you don?t have a camera.
