Leach Botanical Garden

Collections

Leach Botanical Garden currently has over 2,000 species of plants (with collection data) under cultivation and an equal number of species in the nursery. There are an equal number of seed grown plants from wild collected seed and plants acquired from specialty nurseries or botanical organizations. In addition to the northwest native plants that so fascinated John and Lilla Leach, the Garden also boasts an extensive collection of non-native plants such as viburnums, witch hazels, camellias, woody groundcovers and azaleas of the southeastern United States.

Each year the Garden continues to add to its collections of native plants and to preserve and expand the historic Leach collection. At the same time, the Garden has established several taxonomic collections showcasing the enormously diverse members of plant families such as the barberry, rhododendron, woodland lily and fern families. Our collection also includes North American alpines, cacti and succulents, vines, and tropicals.
